Make an ultra-luxury version with a 550-mile solid state battery and call it a Lincoln Zephyr 2. Sell it for less than a Lucid Air and I'm in.
I've been wanting this ever since the Mach-E came out. There is/was a Lincoln variant of every Ford SUV but no luxury EV version. They shelved Lincoln EV projects U808, CDX818, CS821 and CDX847 and as of now I have not seen anything for the future. 😡 That's the reason I added some minor luxury interior touches to my Mach-E.

It really should have been a no brainer move. Take the languishing Lincoln brand with no real standouts and make it an EV brand.

Plus being a premium/luxury brand means they could easily charge more and have higher margins.

GM did exactly that with Cadillac and it had been working very well until the recent….policy changes.

The economics don’t support a major refresh of the MME.
I think it could……. If they use a universal platform for multiple models.

On the same platform, I think they should…..
Make the next gen Mach E
Make a more luxury Lincoln version with air suspension
Make a small pickup
make a lower Mustang coupe version

I’ve been saying they should make a two-door version of the GT with real luxury amenities and call it the Mark E

I’d sign up for one in a New York minute.

They could make a version with a better stereo and large subwoofer and call it the Marky Mark E.
Fix the springs and sway bars and call it Good Vibrations Marky Mark E. Or GV.

(it's a stretch, I know...)

Hey, almost No One in EU knows about Lincoln. BTW Ford does not do any comercials about the Mach e as a BEV either. They could sell more if people would know about Ford BEVs across the lines.
Capri, Puma e or Explorer EV.

Does Ford even sell Lincoln in the EU? Lincoln sells most their vehicles in two countries, the US and China. Some years, the sales figures in China are actually higher than here in the US. Lincoln also has been doing well in the Middle East. Overall while Ford does not sell a lot of Lincoln vehicles, they make a decent profit on them.

I have no inside information regarding a 2027 refresh except my opinions and hope this terrific car isn’t added to the growing list of EV models that are disappearing. I would imagine profitability is a worsening issue for Ford and tariffs may have eaten away whatever slim margin there might have been. Raising the list price to make it profitable would certainly hurt the already dismal start to 2026 with 1Q sales numbers in the US dropping to 4,600 units versus 11,607 in 2025. My small sampling of sales at the dealership I bought my Mach E at in October 2025 is consistent. They had 6 Mach E’s on the lot back then. I bought my black Premium. The other 5 sat through on the lot through the winter and only recently I’ve noticed a white Premium is gone. Maybe sold or maybe traded to another dealership? Perhaps the spike in gasoline prices will generate more interest and the ongoing incentives will help them sell the remaining 2025s? I don’t however see any future where Ford can sell the volume needed to reach the capacity of the Mexico plant. It‘s sad as I feel this is such a great car and would hate to see it go away. prematurely. My speculation is 2026 sales will drop to about 20,000 units and there will be on last run made this year for 2027 models as placeholders until the plant in the US starts producing the universal platform. My hope is the universal platform will include a sporty MME II version. BTW, I felt this way about the other Ford in our garage, a 2016 Ford Flex premium. Great car that came from the Ford Canadian plant but sales never reached expectations and 2019 was the last model year after a ten year run (2009 - 2019). Ours now has 157K miles and although our Mach E handles most of our driving needs now, the Flex is what we use for pulling our small Casita RV and hauling things. I’m hoping to keep it going another 5 years. My wish list would be an EV equivalent that has a 400+ range and 4500 lb towing capacity but that doesn’t look like it is in Ford’s future.

I guess if they called a Universal Platform variant the MME II might sound too much like the rarely missed 1974 - 1978 Pinto based Mustang II. On the other hand according to Wikipedia , the Mustang II sold 1.1 million units in 4 years. I’m guessing Ford would be pretty ecstatic with numbers like that for any EV!

I dunno. I'm disappointed with Ford. At the minute it looks to me like a 2027 MME will in reality be a Tesla Y, Rivian R2, Hyundai Ioniq, Cadillac Optiq or similar. Its sad that:

  • Tariffs are keeping lots of good EV's out of the US
  • The US makers are incapable of building something globally competitive, or
  • Achieving a reasonable development cycle (2 years... not 5.... looking at you Ford)

The US has turned into an automotive backwater... no US car that is not a Tesla is of any consequence outside of North America. The US has become an automotive Cuba... stuck in the past and with a widening gap to Asia and Europe. Not even pickups can succeed in the US without the chicken tax. (look it up) There is seemingly no way for the US makers to go on without protectionist tariffs. And just like everywhere else on the planet outside of North America... I don't want an fing f150.
there... I feel better. Now if only there was going to be a refreshed MME... but really... who are we kidding?

Top of my list would be:
Switch to NACS charge port.
Redesign battery box for better insulation from cold weather.
Improve DCFC charge rate to 200 initial and/or 10 to 80% in 30 min or less.
Body styling is fine. It should have lower drag, but too late for that. Some muck up the efficiency anyway with larger diameter and wider tires.
All of this (and perhaps 800 volt architecture for even faster charging!)

A redesigned heat pump that would allow for a full size frunk option - I am one of those who used my 2022 MachE frunk daily! I would love to update my MachE to a 2028 version, and not have to consider changing brands. I live in a dense urban area where a F150 Lightning (rip) isn’t practical.

The Capri is so ignored here in the UK that people dont even bother to point out it looks nothing like a Capri. The Explorer at least looks like it has an identity but is dull. I will be greatful when they eventually stop production as they are an embarrassment to Ford.

The Puma Gen E is a fabulous car and sells well partly due to government subsidies and because it has character.

The Mache is light years ahead in design to all those.
