Occasionally, when I press the button for accessing Apple Car Play, I don't get the beep prompt to start talking. It shows the weird Siri icon in the bottom center of the screen. I'll say "Text Jim" for example and it changes the icon to accept the text, but doesn't say "What would you like to send to Jim?" I have to stop and restart the car and let it re-connect and then it's usually fine. Is anyone else seeing this?

No. I'm on 17.5.1
Not sure. I know for sure that iOS 18 beta 2 has carplay issues. Try using wired and see it its solves the issue. If so its just connection getting dropped and if not there is an issue somewhere

Here's the temporary fix. Go to the phone list, and disconnect your phone from CarPlay. The reconnect it. (both by tapping the CarPlay arrow icon.)

This has been happening to me for a while. The work around i found that works for me is to turn off the wifi on my iPhone and plug in my phone to the Mach E. I noticed this is an issue with wireless CarPlay from my experience. When i disable the wifi from my phone it disconnects the wireless CarPlay. Then when i plug in my phone CarPlay boots back up and everything seems to work great. If i just plug in my phone without disabling the wifi the problem would persist.

For me, this (no audio output from wireless car play) been happening occasionally for a while (at least a month). I generally reboot Sync (vol down + seek right).

This has been fairly annoying. I don’t know whether this is an Apple bug or a Ford bug.

When I had my car in the shop for replacing a module and fixing my over the air updates, there was one module they did not update or said there was something they couldn’t look at and they said you may have issues with Apple CarPlay disconnecting, it’s happened once or twice that’s about it

When I notice carplay making zero noise, I will change to the radio for a minute it two. I sometimes get the message that carplay disconnected eventually. But even if I don’t, just a couple minutes of switching to radio fixed it

I usually reboot sync and if that doesn’t work, I reboot my phone

This is the fastest means I’ve found of fixing the problem. More specifically, tap into settings on the infotainment screen, select phones, tap on your phone, and then disconnect / reconnect to CarPlay. This is much faster than rebooting the phone or rebooting SYNC.

It happens to me from time to time. The annoying part is when you go to make a call and there is no sound. The easiest way to fix it is to switch the phone to Bluetooth and the back to CarPlay.
