I’ve never blown a speaker, even in my younger days. I’m getting some rattling from the rear passenger speaker, close to the hatch, either from the trim or blown speaker. I’m at 39k, so past my warranty, and $225 to diagnose at the dealer. Specs in my sig.

any advice on how to diagnose or fix myself is appreciated!

Speakers are pretty easy to diagnose. Pull off the door panel and listen closely for distortion. Check for physical damage. The cone should move without scraping or grinding. Use a multimeter to measure resistance (Ω). It should read 4 or 8 Ω. If any of this is outside your comfort level, take it to a stereo shop for diagnosis.

That’s the subwoofer.

Turn up the bass and stick your head near it.

Feel around too, could just be a loose panel.

I found the rattling was coming from a cloth cover over the sub. I don’t remember the thread that talks about how easy it is to remove it, but once I did that it stopped and sounded WAY better. Apparently the cloth was for external noise, but I didn’t notice a difference.
