Automatic High Beam

There are times when it stays in low-beam, even with no other cars around, but think maybe that's something to do with ambient/street lights making high-beam redundant.

That will happen below 30 mph or the kmph equivalent. No concern of out driving the low beams at those speeds.

From pg 109 of the U.S. manual, not sure how applicable it is to Euro cars or which trims have auto HB. Same page has directions for overriding high beam with lefthand steering wheel lever.

The system turns the high beams on if all of the following occur:

• You switch the system on.
• You set the lighting control to the autolamps position.
• The ambient light level is low enough that you require high beams.
• There is no traffic in front of your vehicle.
• The vehicle speed is greater than approximately 32 mph (52 km/h).

Hey,
My full beam lights don’t go off when im behind a car or when a car comes at me. I tested it the other night and i was blinding so many people. I have to manually turn the dial to then it off and i shouldn't have to do that in a £47k car.
Anyone else found their high beams dont turn off? The automatic feature is awful and i wish i could have it turned off for good. But turns on everytime i turn the lights on.

Did you manage to resolve the problem? Mine just doesn't work as it should, hardly ever detects other vehicles, have to keep manually turning it off, wondering if it needs recalibration.

Sounds to me like it’s broken or needs calibration. I’ve been quite impressed with the feature (whereas I’ve quickly disabled it on other cars). The part I like the most is how it smoothly dims between high and low, so it’s not like a flicker. I feel like it’s very reliable, and detects cars quite far away. This is a 22 Premium, so maybe it works differently on other trims with different modules/hardware?

Edit: Maybe regional differences? I'm in the US, but noticed this is in the UK forum.

Yes, I'm in the UK.
Its a 22 GT, looks like a trip to the dealership, maybe a recalibration will sort it

Before you do that check you have the correct country road-side settings set per this post:

I'm experiencing the high beam issue (not turning off), pain in the backside. I'm taking it into the dealer next weekend, hope they can sort this out while the recall is being sorted.
