Typically before I hit an excessively sharp turn BlueCruise just turns off. You can see where it will do it on the BlueCruise map too. Here's my favorite example where it quits, then picks up, then quits again. I'm assuming this won't change since 1.3 is technically "out" and the map still shows this unsupported section.

Having said all that, I've disabled adaptive speed control so it doesn't slam on the brakes when it sees a speed limit sign. I'm curious if it will still slow down less for a sharp turn. I have 1.2 and I've never seen that arrow sign, or maybe I've just missed it, but the car does slow down for turns not outside the BlueCruise supported map area. Maybe that arrow only shows up if adaptive speed is enabled?

LOL, not a lot of useful info above, but it's my experience.

Same here never seen an arrow sign - '23 MME with BC 1.2.

I only use it on freeways and curves are not very sharp to make me want to slow it down, although I always have my brake pedal covered just in case.

Per Ford Marketing, BC1.3 slows down 5x as much, and works 5x better, at curves.

There's an option to enable it buried in the settings, but I don't recall the exact verbiage. I had it turned on when we first got our 23, and did experience it slow down for a curve... once.

As I recall, it was far too conservative for my taste as it slowed down to ~50mph on a curve rated for 60mph in a 65mph zone, complete with the little arrow under the speed limit indication. That particular curve is towards the end of my commute, and the car can easily take it at 70mph. Slowing down that drastically and that quickly is hazardous during commute hours so I turned that feature off right after and have not turned it back on since.

Hopefully BC 1.3 will tweak the feature so it is actually usable. Of course, now that I drive the Lightning, the GTPE is my wife's car so it no longer drives my commute route regularly.
Do you mind enabling it on your next commute and press the accelerator when it wants to slow down to maintain the speed you want and see what it does?

The Lightning is my commuter now and it only has BC 1.0. Hopefully it will get BC 1.3 by the end of the year.

I didn’t know about this map. Thank you.
Here is one between Seattle and Vancouver. There are 10-20 examples of this on that route.

I don't believe there is anything preventing you from pressing on the accelerator if you want to go faster...
You are correct. There is also nothing preventing me from turning off the feature and that is my preference, though it is a moot point as I don't drive the GTPE regularly anymore.

And as I recall the feature is tied to the speed adjustment based on speed limit signs, so I would need to keep that off anyway if I was still driving the GTPE. The speed limit is different in the express lane (70) than it is in the non express lanes (65) here, and the feature does not differentiate between them. In other words, it adjusts the speed down when it sees a 65mph sign and back up when it sees a 70mph sign, even though I never left the 70mph zone.

The option to slow down on curves is packaged together with the speed limit recognition. They can't be enabled/disabled separately (which is a gripe of mine). So that's why you haven't seen the arrow show up.

The car will still slow down for sharp curves AFTER you turn the wheel, which is abrupt/dangerous. The curve feature slows down BEFORE the curve starts (I think it looks at the map data and calculates the curvature).

Curve slowdown feature needs to be separate from speed sign recognition and have an aggressiveness adjustment to suit different driving styles IMO.

We haven't seen a lot of talk about it on the forum because it seems like 90% of people shut off speed sign recognition in the first week of ownership and never experience the curve speed adjustment. Anybody with a '23 want to turn it back on and test the curve part more? Just manually adjust your set speed if it gets it wrong.

100% agree. Hopefully BC 1.3 will have this improvement.

I have a 2023 with BC 1.2 and it does not slow down for curves and the arrow road sign does not appear.
I have had this happen one time that I noticed. It took me by surprise as I did not realize it had this capability. Before this, with BC 1.2 on, I would brake at Highway/freeway curves that require me to slow down (generally gentle transitions from one roadway to another) and perhaps never gave the feature a chance to work. I think some of not seeing it is simply experience using BC 1.2 and not taking over by hitting the brakes too soon.

I have a 2023 and it slows too much around curves. I just press the accelerator to speed up a bit. The car continues around the curve in handsfree.

Thanks. Hopefully 1.3 will do a better job. At least it stays in hands free now.

Say the speed limit is 60, and there is no suggested speed sign for the turn, do you know how much it slows down for that?

It will slow down as much as Ford, when they mapped the road, determined it needs to slow down.

I feel it slows down too much. Do you think it tries to read signs like these?

Most curves I've taken have no signs, so no.
