I don't think it likely that '21s will receive OTA updates of any kind until Ford either figures out how to OTA update BC 1.3 or they give up trying.

A difference in hardware modules is often cited here as the reason for the delay, but, at the same time, it appears that BC 1.3 that runs on these modules exists and can be installed with FDRS, but is not available OTA.

So, is the delay due to OTA issues, such as power management or memory resources, or some business related decision such as driving '21 owners to new models, or warranty considerations? Maybe Ford knows, but they aren't saying.

With Winter holidays come code freezes, so don't expect any updates until 2025 regardless.

I received the BC1.3 update today and it installed successfully. But I don't see any changes in the settings (no in-lane repositioning etc.).

To anyone that got this update, this is how you enable the toggle switches for the new features in your touchscreen.

With FORScan:

APIM (as built)

7D0-09-05

xxxx xx4x 28--

7D0-10-02

xxxx xxxx 10--

To anyone who doesn't have or doesn't want to use FORScan: You have to wait for the OTA. The dealer cannot help you.

If you did not get the update and try this, all it will do is add buttons to your cruise control settings menu that won't do anything. This WILL NOT enable the new features.

@Ford Motor Company Still waiting for that job offer. You can 1099 me if you want.......I have my own health insurance. If not, then make yourself useful for a change and copy/paste this to the OP to make it easier for people to find it.

MME ā€˜21 Not Abandoned by FoMoCo

All, here’s an email I received from Ford’s BlueCruise department in response to my questioning if they still intend the OTA rollout of BC 1.3 (or successor) for MY ā€˜21, or if they would consider doing this as a dealer update through a CSP. Here’s what they say (and kudos to Rachel for replying within a couple of hours). First my response to her reply, then her original reply to my initial query:

Rachael,

Thank you for your speedy reply. I think that periodic updates of this sort (perhaps every 1-2 months while the process rolls out) would go a long way to damp down the rumor mill that ā€˜21 ME owners have been abandoned by Ford.

Hi xxxxxx -

We really appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with BlueCruise and your Mustang Mach-E. We know that many Mach-E owners are eagerly awaiting the delivery of BlueCruise 1.3.

Previously, we shared that we were starting to rollout the software package to enable BlueCruise 1.3. The software update is complex – it’s a large package that requires several sequential updates to multiple system modules within the vehicle, and as a result takes multiple updates to successfully deliver the package. We made the decision to pause the rollout to meet the level of quality we strive for, so that customers have the best experience possible with the newest version of BlueCruise. All things it sounds like you are very familiar with.

I can confirm that 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E owners with BlueCruise-equipped vehicles (which includes you as a 2021 owner) will be eligible for the BlueCruise 1.3 update. We are deploying this as a staggered rollout by model year. Every model year is unique and requires a different software package. While 2022 and 2023 Mustang Mach-E updates are currently underway, we don’t have an update to share for 2021 Mach-Es just yet.

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything else I can share publicly around 2021 Mach-E timing. I can assure you that the team will share timing with our 2021 Mach-E customers as soon as we can!

Thanks,

Rachel Berlinski
