Howdy, first time poster but have been lurking around here for a long time. I was hoping that the community could help me with the following problem I am facing: The Brake Assist rarely but sometimes goes WHACKO and gets activated whenever I am driving up hills and randomly stops(I live in a hilly area). This is really dangerous as I have cars behind me etc and the trigger is again not an actual car.

I believe it simply thinks that the hill in front of me is a car as the hill probably makes it appear as if theres something in front of it. I of course know how to remove Brake assist but the problem is that it gets reset each ride. So the question is:

How can I permanently remove Brake Assist?

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Have you had the ADAS camera and radar sensor calibration checked at a Ford Dealer? That would be my first thought, because this is not normal or widely reported.

Auto braking can be disabled.

That's a limitation of the system. You'll have to either turn it off, or be prepared to override the braking by immediately pressing the accelerator pedal. You should be able to learn where it usually triggers and just hold your foot over the accelerator pedal passing those areas.

He stated he can turn it off, but it turns back on next key cycle (as the manual states). Cannot be turned off permanently.
