I'm going to start off with this happened to my sister-in-law who I was not with at the time of this failure. There are a lot of details I don't know so it's very general in nature....with that....
2023 MME RT1 x4. 3000 miles. She believes it had an update recently before this. She had been driving the car to work and to dinner with us. We left and met back up at work. She said she was driving up this hilly road when a car slowed to turn, almost coming to a stop. As she came up to this car, she applied the brakes and there was nothing there! She said she really had to put as much pressure as she could on the pedal. I don't know if the regen braking was what slowed her down enough to prevent hitting the car in front of her or not, but there was no contact. She kinda freaked out! She said she really kept it slow from there to work. The ABS light and the wrench light came on. She came in and told us what happened and called her dealer (nephew) to tell him. She went out to the car and told him about it. Apparently, when she powered down the car and them powered it back up again, it cleared the issue. WTH!
Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? That could have been a catastrophic incident under the right (or wrong) circumstances!!
From what I've heard it was a possible anomaly due to an update. I personally have concerns that the computer can disable the brake system. I'll follow up with more info as I learn it from her. Looking for similar situations with others.
