So I had a good amount of weight in the cargo area and noticed that one of the pieces was broken. I went to ask the dealer about replacing the part and they didn't know what the part was and told me that it wasn't even in the schematic/manual. He also said that maybe it was supposed to be removed after the manufacturing process, but it doesnt appear that way. Does anyone know what this piece is called and where I might get a replacement? It looks like a shelf rest piece.

I posted about the same problem yesterday. These brackets support the shelf when in the upper position. In my case, I had the shelf on the lower position (below the brackets). I had some heavy boxes in the back and when they shifted, both brackets snapped off, like yours.

I took it to the local Ford dealer and was informed that the entire side assembly had to be replaced (on both sides) and it would take two months to get the parts in. It is incredibly bad design - overzealous value engineering at its worst. I hope Ford engineers do a redesign quickly or they will have a flood of these.

This is categorically incorrect. I would seriously try to get the dealership to cover it under warranty. If they really didn't even know the part is supposed to be there, then obviously they didn't inform you that the cargo area floor has two height positions, so how should you know that the floor can be lowered? Furthermore the manual isn't at all clear about any weight restrictions when the floor panel is in the upper position.

I am working with a Ford dealer to get mine fixed. They claim they're trying to get it done under warranty but warned there is no guarantee Ford Motor will agree (there isn't a snowball's chance in hell I will pay for it). My sense is that it'll take the threat of a class action suit for Ford to remedy the current design, and redesign the system. Any attorneys on this thread? Here's a live one!

There was a recent thread with the same issue and @dtbaker61 posted his repair solution. If the dealer cannot get it fixed under warranty, either fix it yourself or pay a mechanic to fix it via the solution posted.
