With the asking price of used Mustangs Mach-Es already dropping into the low $30k range for '21 and '22 Selects and even the GTs down to ~$42k (lemoned and manufacturer buybacks, sometimes meaning a brand new HVB), my savings account just isn't going to grow as quickly as those prices are dropping.
But, honestly, at some point soon, we might buy a low-end Select just for the battery--A 68kWh battery for $30k is cheaper than what you can get from solar installers or even as a DIY for whole-house battery backup. Its capacity is way more than we would need for a night of power outage, but it would help during the long winter months. An 18.5 kWh whole house LiFePO4 battery costs around $14k before shipping, which is about 3.6 times more expensive per kWh.
It's also about the same price as buying the battery pack directly from Ford ($28k-$35k).
