We also have an EV6, and it's really nice that the car will lock the J-1772 port while it's charging. Would love to see this on my Mach-E. Seems like it should be possible because it can lock while CCS charging, but I haven't seen a tear down to know whether it's reasonable that Ford could deliver this via a software update. Does anyone know? If it is possible, can we have it please Ford?

Agree it would be nice to have. I had a Polstar 2 rental and it would lock the port when you locked the car so no one can unplug. I def think Ford could provide it via software update.

Same way TeslaTap does it is doable; you need a company to make an adaptor that goes in the middle of the car and J1772 that has a hole for a lock to stop the lever from being pushed to release. Now getting that built and certified is the hard part…

I believe in another thread they said that the European model has this feature so it should be possible.

When I bought my tesla tap, I also bought the locks to prevent the tap from being stolen but also to prevent the connection from being removed. From what others have said, the tesla owner feel they have exclusive rights to tesla's charging network. However, I hope to never use it and it does not solve the issue of not being able to lock the plug into the car. However, I knew someone had come up with some creative solutions. See below.
