Heya good people across the pond!

I am in the process of trying to get a hold on the rally springs and get someone to install them on my extended range rwd premium, in hope of a bit softer ride.

However, most guides here mention that the sway bar should be replaced too. Is it actually needed to achieve softer ride? The reason why I ask is because if not, it would mean one less part to find (which is really hard to get shipped to Norway in itself), and some cost saving.

In advance, thanks!

Hi, so you do not have to replace the OEM bars with the Eibach sway bars. It’s not mandatory. However it’s highly suggested because they will soften the ride do to the way they are mounted compared to the OEM’s and will bring back the slight loss of handling you get after going with the softer springs. Also you are already in that area of the suspension so it’s cheaper to have them replaced while you are doing the springs opposed to a later time.

Bottom line, there are three things that will give you a better ride. OEM rally spring, Eibach Sway Bars and taller tires. If you did all three and I had to rate the effect on the ride, 70% would be the springs, 25% the bars and 5% the tires.

Great summary, thanks! I already have the smallest tires / rims possible (18 inches and… 225x60 rubber I believe), hence the two last pieces of the pusle left!

Speaking of that, do anyone here know where one could get parts shipped to Norway? The Ford dealerships (asked two close by) are infuriating unhelpful (they sell and service Mach e rally versions but say that can’t get parts for the rally version……..), thus I’m left getting it by other means.

You are saying that you supplied your Ford dealer with the Rally springs part numbers and they won’t order them for you?

I’ve shipped many items internationally especially to Europe but it can be expensive especially something like four springs which are large and heavy. I’m sure you can find a Ford dealer somewhere in Europe that can order the springs for you. If not, I can let you know how much it would be to ship from here but I wouldn’t be able to do that until the 12th as I’m out of town until then. I do have a set of Rally springs so I’d be able to ship them out on the 12th if you really can’t find anyone and willing to pay the shipping.

Thanks again, I’ll check around for a bit.

And yeah haha! I pointed them to the topic that listed all parts needed as well as writing the actual part names directly in my email to them, no dize. One even warned me that such an action would be against the road authority’s approval of the car all together and even would inform them if they got to know that I did this change … I mean, err, I don’t know man, it seems like even if Ford sells these cars they know so little about them that each time interacting with them makes me a bit less happy with them (not to mention the one time they did the electric handbrake recall and forgot to tighten up their things which meant the car bricked on the way home from the dealer heh…).

But, if the rally springs should be a pain to get, are there some similar offbrand / common brand springs that works? I have no knowledge about this stuff, but as long as the length and diameter is right, it can fit / work? Or?

The OEM Rally sprigs are the only ones I know of that are softer (lower spring rates) made. Eibach and H&R make springs for the Mach-E but they are similar spring rates to OEM and some are more firm. Your only option right now are the Rally springs. As far as your country’s authority approval, we don’t have anything like that here. I know many other countries won’t allow you to replace parts with ones not specifically designed for your model car. Here we can do pretty much what we want with our suspensions.
