Changing windshield (No Issue)

Hey I'm getting my windshield replaced by Safelite. The guy showed me this because he was confused as to why it was that way and saying it could cause problems with calibration. For some reason there are two cables running to the camera that's in the windshield. Anyone know why or if it will cause any issues? I got the car new from ford

I believe it is for the rain sensor for the automatic wipers, it is mounted next to the camera. FYI, the Mach E camera automatically calibrates after driving it a couple of miles.

Looks to me as if the camera coax cable (from the camera to the A-piller) was replaced at some point. This cable is a common problem related to "Front Camera Fault" errors. When replacing this cable, it's good practice to cut off the ends of the defective cable so as not to confuse the next person who opens up this area. Appears as if the person who replaced the original cable was lazy and didn't do that.

Good to know. My 2017 Mustang got new passenger window and it wasn't the same even after taking to Ford electrician.

That's why when I got a ding on my windshield I didnt replace it. Seems the ding is getting worse after safeties repair.

All I can add is that one week from purchase a rock did in my windshield. Local shop replaced it with what they claimed was OEM glass. No issues after two years so all the sensors must have been handled correctly. But when I see a gravel hauler I’ll immediately do almost anything to avoid getting near it.

Yeah, I hate that You have to get 50 feet from the truck to read the stay back 200 feet

Safelite replace mine, no issues except one. Insurance wouldn’t pay for OEM glass. It’s noticeably louder on the freeway with more wind noise.

My rain sensing wipers haven’t been the same since my windshield got replaced. Safelite came out and got it working again but at some point it stopped. My dealer will want probably $1000 to fix it. I’m just resigned to having conventional intermittent wipers now.
