Hi folks, I am having an issue with the latch on my charge port door. The latch works, but it is loosened from the door itself. The end of the latch has two protruding tabs of different sizes that fit into notches in the mounting location on the door, and I can just push it in an twist it a bit, and it works fine, but it keeps coming loose, including while I was driving today. (I was afraid that I had lost the part, but it was thankfully still latched to the car side). When I push it into the door, I can only twist it a couple degrees counterclockwise, but it's not tightly connected, and it seems that it rattles loose easily.

Any idea how that latch is supposed to be more permanently attached to the door? I have half a mind to put a little gorilla glue on it, or something, so that it stays attached, but I thought I would see if anybody knows how it's actually supposed to attach.

I assume you line up the tabs with the slot. Put in and twist it locked.

Yeah, that was my assumption as well. But you can't twist it very far, and it doesn't lock. I don't know if some locking mechanism is broken off, or what...

Found out more about it in this thread. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/charging-port-door-lock-fell-off.12735/

It does seem that it should lock into place, because the back side of the tabs are indented, as if you were to twist it. My guess is that there would have been a little nub that latched into that indentation when you twisted it, and it has maybe worn off or broken off. I will see what the dealer says.

My lock pin would pop out from time to time. This part is made by BMW (fits my 21 Mach E Premium) and can be found here https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-531116-lock-pin/ Mine finally popped out while driving and was forever lost. The BMW part fits much more snuggly. I ordered 3. shipping is a bit steep but the part works better than the original.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
