Charging and Conditioning the EV Battery

I have a 2022 MME Premium Is the battery being conditioned when it is plugged in but not charging? I have a home Level II charger.

Depends what you mean by conditioned. The car will draw power from the grid to keep the battery from getting too cold (as long as you don't have a charging window set).

That was what I wanted to know. I assumed from what I have read that the battery is kept warm when always plugged in.
But is that different than conditioning the battery before leave the garage to take a trip?

Yes. That's a longer process that takes sometimes 90 minutes and brings the battery to 59 degrees. The previously described process takes the battery above freezing.

If plugged into L1/L2 and there is a charging window set, then:

• Preconditions work as usual
• The battery conditioning will only possibly happen during the charging window
• Remote starts will use the battery

If plugged into L1/L2 and there is not a charging window set, then:

• Preconditions work as usual
• The battery conditioning will happen as needed at any time
• Remote starts will use the battery

If not plugged in and the "precondition while not plugged in" setting is off, then:

• Preconditions will not happen
• The battery conditioning will not happen
• Remote starts will use the battery

If not plugged in and the "precondition while not plugged in" setting is on, then:

• Preconditions will happen but the battery will not warm (need someone to verify this)
• The battery conditioning will not happen
• Remote starts will use the battery
