Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to try it out before leaving for sure. I have both the Tesla app, and the ABRP app. Is there a way to determine for certain if the Tesla charger will work with the adaptor? Have you ever used the Tesla chargers near the Trader Hoes/Marshalls/Mall in Emeryvill off Christie?
When you open Tesla app and specify your car it would show only compatible chargers

A quick update: Received my A2Z Typhoon Pro charger ONE DAY after purchasing (fantastic customer service). Went to try it out at a Tesla V3 charger today in prep for my trip to Long Beach from the Bay Area tomorrow. It took 2 tries to get a seamless experience, including some BBQ brisket at the Emeryville public market while awaiting my charge. I followed the instructions that came with the adaptor which was to plug adaptor into MME port, THEN plug the Tesla cable/charger in. That didn't work, so I attached the adaptor to the Tesla cable, then plugged in, and it was fine. Rivian next to me had the same adaptor. This is a total game changer for road trips as I trust Teslas network. Thank you to all who gave advice! I'll try to remember to leave a short travel log upon my return!

Happy Holidaze everyone!

Most of the CA rest stops have free fast chargers (1 or 2) if they are working.

Free DC Fast charger in Lebec - southbound 5 freeway.
5 chargers - $0 courtesy of CADOT tax monies.

I love Lebec for a free charge, even though it's limited to 70kW.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Thank you. I'm a bit worried with the heavy travel this week, it'll be busy, but good to know for next time.

Hi folks, We're driving from Oakland to Long Beach for Christmas and planning on Rte 5. I want to know if anyone has experience charging in Kettleman City or has any recommendations for charging at the halfway point. I DO NOT have a Tesla adaptor, so it would be CCS charger only.

All recommendations welcome, even if it's a different route (NOT route 1).

Thanks in advance and Happy Holidaze!
Use the PlugShare app if you want the straight scoop on a charger, especially to see if it has been operating recently.

I agree, use the PlugShare app. Recent check-ins on PlugShare are very helpful in determining the availability of chargers. ABRP can be useful for longer cross country rural trips with fewer major stations but there is a learning curve. I think the major issue in California is crowded charging stations, an issue that I deal with whenever in am in Southern California. Having the NACS adapter is a necessity in my experience. On my longer rural trips with fewer charging options, the NACS adapter has made life a lot easier. PS. I own all three of the major NACS adapters, Ford (Tesla version), A2Z, and Lectron. All three of my NACS adapters have been recalled and replaced.

My advice - don't plan a certain charging station. Plan two or three on the way. Check the first one - if no or a little line then go for it, otherwise continue to the next one.

When I’m planning my next stop, while charging, I check the app for the network I’m thinking of using to get a real time status if up/down and availability. EVGo even allows for making a reservation at some locations .

it's 50kW chargers so you have to wait free kWs vs time
