Charging Pad

I have a Apple case on my iPhone 12 pro max. It works with the Apple charging pad. It works in the car if I carefully position it but it stops charging if the road has bumps in it ie always. Is the MME charging pad supposed to work with the Apple case?

The wireless charger built-into the MME is kind of finicky from what I have read regarding positioning of the phone on the pad. There are numerous threads here on that subject. On one or mor of those threads, someone developed a 3D-printed solution to help preserve positioning of the phone.

If you search the forum, you’ll find a lot of threads on this, especially with the 12 Pro/Pro Max. Even if you just sit there in the garage and don’t move it a hair, it will stop charging fairly quickly. You can pick it up to reset it, and then it will work for a while, but it will stop again.

I switched to an iPhone 13 Pro Max (from a 12 Pro), and it’s never lost charge once, even over bumpy roads. Supposedly Apple did something to the 13 line that made the MagSafe a little friendlier to standard Qi chargers.

I hate to say it, but now you have a good reason to upgrade to a 13!
