I saw an article the vehicles running pure android automotive OS (Rivian) will be able to cast their phone or tablet to the infotainment screen starting soon. Anyone know if this will roll out to android auto more broadly?

The Sync software on our cars would have to be updated to be a chromecast device. I doubt they will do this.

Rivian is doing that because their system is based on Android Automotive, not Android Auto:
