I just bought a ex-dealer demo, Job 1 '23 GTP. I noticed under connected vehicle services the first toggle is Telematics and I cannot turn it off. Does this have to do with it being an ex demo car? Or does it even matter? It is missing lot of updates from what I can see as it still has the 2 icons and no camera one on the Home Screen.

How long ago did you buy it? It sounds like you need the dealer to notify Ford of the ownership change. This is probably already in progress, but you should contact the seller and let them know about this issue. Telematics is often locked on when a vehicle is under fleet management, like when the dealer owned it.

I'm not sure what the typical turn around time is for this on Ford's end, but if you're able to add the vehicle to FordPass as the primary owner, then you ought to be good to go.

I bought it this afternoon. Perfect, I was able o add and activate Ford Pass today, so I"ll give it a couple of days to see if the lock on the toggle goes away.

Would this affect the car not getting updates? It is way behind my 2022 Premium

I'm not really sure why it didn't get updates. Just a guess, but it's possible they were blocked due to how its prior owner (your dealer) had it set up for fleet management. You could let the dealer know you're concerned something may be wrong, or wait it out, or post your VIN in the forum's thread where people volunteer to check the status your car's reporting to Ford's diagnostics/technician services.

I borrowed my dealer's 2023 Ford Escape recently while my MME was in for service. I played around with some settings in the infotainment (a really nice implementation of SYNC 4 on that car) and within a few days, the vehicle received what may have been its very first OTA update, Power-Up 6.1.0, if I'm remembering correctly.

When I'd checked the Escape's Software Updates screen prior to that, it looked like a stubbed out page. For instance, What's New had nothing under it, description was blank, etc, and the layout of the text was a little weird.

Did you do a master reset of the car ? I guess more importantly did the DEALER do a master reset ?

Did you do a master reset of the car ? I guess more importantly did the DEALER do a master reset ?
I did one as when I added it to my account and set the phone up. While the salesman was very nice, he had zero clue how to do it and was shocked when I did.

I also was asking about it being job 1 vs 2 as otherwise I would have fought for more money off due to BC subscription and no portable charger. He also had no clue .
