If the Ford app has the car connected to the previous owner, you will need that removed to connect to the car. The car is talking to the mother ship ok, which is why it is saying you are not authorized.

Car is not talking to the mothership because the modem is dead.

Spoke to ford and the customer rep registered the vehicle to me but ford app people still saying it’s under the previous owner

Post what codes it has. You can message me the VIN and I can check, but if the modem is truly not communicating or dead, I won't be able to see any codes. However, if it is an issue like an incorrect configuration, I may be able to help.

My 2025 stopped communicating recently, so the phone app would not update current mileage info, the GPS was dead, OTA updates couldn't be processed, etc. It was resolved with a new telematics control module replaced under warranty.

In his case, it seems to be either a loose connection or a bad GWM. I am working with him and few others behind the scenes to try and get him fixed up. Hopefully it is just a loose plug.
