I just test drove a basic RWD SR MME from the garage. They gave it to me for a day in anticipation of my own RWD ER one that should arrive in 6 weeks or so. I liked it a lot but never got Android Auto (AA) working. I followed instructions from several threads here that advised me to open developer options in the AA app, wipe all cars, etc. Here's what I got:
- AA locked completely, overheating my phone but not connecting, when trying wireless. The car showed the "connect AA" button. When I clicked it, it just went back to my phone name, where the "connect AA" button reappeared.
- When I connected via USB (tested with 2 cables, one straight from a working hard disk), the phone and car didn't see each other. When I looked in the USB settings on the phone, where I can set whether it should connect for charging only or file transfer etc, it blinked on and off as if the cable was malfunctioning.
Now, my phone is a rooted S10+ but it's working perfectly fine for everything including banking apps. AA is working fine on the phone screen. It just goes completely bonkers when near the car. When I returned the car today, I didn't even try connecting it, but the phone was red hot and blocked in AA.
I noticed the car had other phones in its memory. Can that be a problem? Or should I reflash the phone back to the original manufacturer's ROM when I get my own car? It's strange, because the demo model a few months back connected straight away on the same phone.

Edit: PaaK and the FordPass app worked fine, the car unlocked when I approached it.

I think Ford is having an issue. Unexpected Master reset happened 2 nights ago. Received a message on App. It disconnected PAAK and notified you as such. I’ve tried for the last 30 min to set back PAAK; but no luck. Hopefully Ford will straighten it out soon.
