So I have a long story for you. A few weeks ago I was driving to LA and I lost Cruise control. I then decided it was time to get in touch with a ford dealer of the ford dealers near me I had to go to the one furthest away about an hour away. I made an Appt with ford on the phone and told them the issues and they said to bring it in on a Tuesday, April 20th at 8:45 am. I brought it to the Ford dealer in Santa Barbara and was told we need it until Friday. He said he had too much work and not enough techs. I said OK can I get a ride home. The advisor looked at me like I asked him for 1 million dollars. I said umm well I need to get home and you are not giving me the ability to go home. In the end I came in with my own plan. I told the advisor I can bring it back Saturday and then you guys can have it for a few days. So I did that. Brought the car in on Saturday, April 23rd. The advisor told me to text him. I did and I got no replies. on Monday I asked for an update and again I got nothing. At this point, I called ford and asked them to intervene for me. They did. Advisor then called me he said. Ford's computer is down we cannot do anything. Ford would not allow me to get a rental for more than one day. The dealer would not run a diagnosis on the car so that I could get a rental for more than one day. So I waited. On Tuesday I text the advisor for any update, but no update. So I call Ford. Again while on the phone with Ford he texts me and starts to fill me in. Says Friday. I said I need a car then. He tells me only a one-day rental is allowed. I said than run a diagnostic and ford will allow for more than one day. Nope, he will not. Says it's impossible to do. At this point, I said why didn't you just do that Monday. Wednesday comes around and around 11 am I ask an advisor for an update and nothing. I call Ford again and lo and behold the car needs one test according to ford. I tell Ford that asking to get an update and it should be the norm. I am not asking for all the details I just need to know something is moving forward. While on the phone with them I tell them that the advisor is saying the car is ready for pickup. I pick up the car I ask the guy where the car is he sends me to the cashier. One of the guys who works there recognizes me and gets my car and then one of the advisors starts asking me if they did the Blue Oval update. I said I don't know what was done nothing was explained to me. He then grabbed the paperwork and started to explain what was done to the car and apologized for the bad service. Cruise control works and I bring it home.
Think that's the end? NOPE!
On the drive home, I noticed the 1 pedal driving was turned off. Turns out. It was turned off because the tech might not like it. As soon as I turned it on and drove in reverse new error. New Error is Reverse Brake Assist Not available See Manual. This now happens when I put it in R with 1 pedal on. I thought great here we go again. And well the other issues came back too. Front Proximity Sensor not available, Front Camera not available. So when I was driving up to watch a movie out of town the cruise control turned off on its own because of the old error showing back up.
So moral of the story is Ford and Ford's dealers have a disconnect. It's clear they want our $ but asking to be treated decently is out of the window. Now I have to find a new dealer and go through this god-awful process again and I doubt any dealer will help me willingly now.
