Well holy shit...why didn't I think of this!?!?

Oh yeah its not 1957.......thats why.
Or you could raise your prices 3%.

Consumers HATE getting charged the extra credit card fee. It’s the reason this thread exists.

You can complain about the credit card companies all you like, but if your business chooses to charge the 3% fee, the consumer will be mad at the business, not the CC company.

It isn’t a “feel good” experience for the consumer.

So, if your service was to cost a large amount, say $500, the dealer would expect you to have $500 in cash on you to pay or charge an extra 3%. Ridiculous
Pay by check.

Is that why they are $6 a box now. They had to account for the credit card fees? :p
You have no idea how much the price hike hurt our sales this year. Apparently GS’ CEO slept through macro economics class too (just like Ford’s). We effectively sold 20% less. And most of our customers are young professional high earning women, who identify with the cause.

I just completed my 20k maintenance on my 2022 ME Prem. While at the cashier to pay WITH MY FORD CREDIT CARD, I was told that there is a 3% charge for using credit cards. I think this is ridiculous as they push you to get and use the Ford card by giving you incentives to pay with it at the dealer. I am curious if any other dealers do this or is this the only one.
Koons Ford Mazda in Silver Spring MD does the same thing. 3% on any credit or debit card, including the Ford card.

Not sure where you have been shopping or dining but many businesses are adding surcharges for using a credit card to pay, many times labeling as a convenience fee..

The dealer is not telling you one way or another just that you will pay a 3% convenience fee if you use a credit card. I think most of us are adults here and we can decide if we want to pay the 3% or make other arrangements.

I realize it's just a different side of the coin and a slight of hand but I like businesses who offer a discount for paying with cash.

Personally I believe the business should absorb the cost maybe by charging a dollar or two more for everything. Or offer a CASH price or CREDIT CARD price. Gas stations have been doing that for years. Let the consumer decide

In CT a business cannot charge a credit card processing fee but instead can offer a cash discount. Problem with a cash discount is that it has to be offered to everyone that pays by check.
Why is this a problem, your business doesn't pay a credit card fee and a check is deposited just like cash, maybe even easier to handle than cash?

So my daughters sell Girl Scout cookies and you’d be shocked how little we sell in cash. The first word out of their mouth is “Venmo”. No, we don’t take Venmo , but can do Apple Pay, credit or debit. Cash is very problematic. The troop sold so much last year that the bank put a fraud alert on the account. Thought my wife was… you know the story.
Yes this was my point, they were complaining about paying fees, but it's just the cost of doing business. Also this cost should be paid by the business, not the customers, at least not directly like this.

Yeah, then stop complaining and absorb the cost of doing business in capitalism. That was my point.

I live in MO. We only see it at the DMV and tax offices. I have never had a retailer outside of this Ford dealer do it. I also checked with 3 other Ford dealers in the area and none of them do that.

This is nothing new. I've been to several doctors offices lately and all of them add 3% or more for credit card charges. Gas stations up charge for credit.

Dr. Offices do not have posters all around the office advertising their own credit card. There were two full size posters in the service waiting area and one at the cashier window for the Ford credit card.... They should not be pushing a credit card with benefits if the benefits are negated by a service fee..

Gotcha, unfortunately it is slowly infecting Virginia, mainly in restaurants, hopefully it doesn't come your way.
