Dealer Visit for a Software Update?

Got a text from my dealership yesterday saying there is an open software update for my 2025 that I need to bring the car in for, and that it will take 30-40 minutes. I seem to get OTA updates pretty infrequently, but I do receive them so I am not sure why I would need to bring the car in for a software update. Is anyone aware of an update available now that requires the car be brought in? I responded to the text asking why it isn't OTA and, shocker, nobody responded.

Haven't seen any mention of this here or on Reddit, so wondering if anyone knows what the update might be and why it needs to be a dealer install.

The only recall I think that can apply is 25C69, which is rolling out via PT-26.13.6. @atllauren, perhaps it makes more sense for mobile service to do the update at your place and time of choosing than it is for you to drop it off?

They used mobile service for software updates to address a recall. I’d ask them to do that.

No recalls! Car was in for service not that long ago to replace my TCS module and they did all the recalls. I wonder if it is the big SYNC update I’ve seen people get, but if it is I still don’t know why I’d have to go in for it.

Every time they do an update I quake with fear. And too, prepare to reset everything.

Turned the OTA off in my Lightning and when my Mach E gets home it’s getting turned off also.

I had a strange low voltage warning and I checked the small battery and it was good. I then got a little worried about it and took it into my local Ford dealership in San Jose. 2023 mach e 4x They kept the car for 2 weeks and said they were doing updates all that time. They did give me a free loaner which was a Maverick that I drove around. Since that day the car's been fine. It's been about 5 months. The whole update thing and my communication with Ford was a little mysterious. I have no idea what they really did.

I got one of those texts after a few months of ownership of my ‘25. Turned out that it needed 11 updates. It was worth it.

This has happened twice to me on my ‘24 Mach-E and both times Ford just acts like it never happens to anyone else. I’ve also turned off auto updates on my car. What happens when it’s out of warranty? I’ll have to pay for their screw up?

My guess would be an update failed and it phoned home. If there are no failed updates and you're car is good. I personally wouldn't take it in. I don't trust dealership anyways. So I stay away if I can.
