Per the video most of us have watched, we know that Ford is turning on modules and preparing for a big update sometime "soon". My vehicle, manufactured in late May, has some issues. I have the high speed fan noise when I charge at 48 amps at home, which is easily remedied by charging at 40 or lower. I have the charger set on 32 now, but would want the ability to use 48 if I need a quicker charger.

I also have poor PAAK performance, and FordPass synchronization with the vehicle. And despite getting OTA updates 1.6 and then 1.4, I cannot turn on SecuriAlert, despite getting to the switch via the FordPass message sent to me on August 27th (can't get to it any other way). Ignoring the benefit, or lack thereof, of SecuriAlert, this tells me that something didn't update properly with 1.4.

What I'm unclear on is whether or not the upcoming update (as well as turning on BlueCruise), will bring all my modules up to date, or whether I should schedule a dealer visit to get them updated. Clearly the fan issue at a minimum is covered by a TSB, and I suspect my dealer will agree to update every possible module they can. Is it worth my time, and their time, to do this? Or will I find that all things are resolved by this "coming soon" update in the next few weeks?

I will be taking another trip in roughly 3-4 weeks, and don't want a potential BlueCruise update to not work because I didn't go into the dealer now.

Anyone really know? Not looking for WAGs. ? ;)

If you have issues with the car that need service, go to the dealer.

I should add, they won't just update all modules for you unless they think that will fix the issues, but an OTA, if and when it shows up, will only update the modules they think are necessary for the particular OTA.

If you have concerns that bother you with potential fixes available, I'd go to the dealer. I'd love to bank on OTA but that just seems more and more like a pipe dream. Get fixes, enjoy your car.

Sorry, but anyone who "really knows" exactly what's coming in the next OTA update and when isn't allowed to say. The only responses you're going to get here will be guesses.

I went in for the service bulletin for the PAAK update this summer, and I am pretty glad I did. It was a good opportunity for me to see what the dealership service department was like, on a pretty low stakes issue. I scheduled the fix, and I was in and out of there in less than 2 hours, having worked in their desk area in the waiting room.

If you are planning a trip I would consider going in there. You have to mention having each specific problem you want fixed though. They wont just get it up to date without you telling them. I mentioned the TSB about the motion sensors setting off the alarm, and they fixed that, but when I mentioned it I kinda got a little side eye. Being you are not paying for this stuff, they may want to do as little as possible and have you go on your way. They bill the factory for warranty work, but I imagine there is some more red tape there than you swiping your credit card on the way out.

I took mine in for the fan noise updates. The dealer had it done the same day. They even charged it up for me.

I talked to the Service Manager earlier, and am going to bring it in. He's reviewing my list of things with the tech to see what updates would be applied besides the noisy fans.
