Yes in a recent interview Moray Callum indicated that the design was directly influenced by the Accord Crosstour (which makes sense as the S550 Mustang was directly influenced by the Accord V6 Coupe).

My wife and I both had 67 mustangs prior to marriage in 83. The AWD 6 Crosstour has been her favorite car since then. Would have bought another but Honda discontinued It. Preordered Mach e as soon as I saw the announcement and specs. Shhhhh. She doesn’t know it’s a Christmas gift. This looks more like the Crosstour than a pony car but Mach e is spot on for our taste and needs including every other week 200 mile trips to the Sierras.
