Not sure if I am missing something but why does the car and my Chargepoint EVSE continue to report "time on the charger" after the charging level has reached its target? The formula: V X A =KWH/H requires knowing the time spent actually charging the battery, not the total time on the charger. I am interested in order to calculate the amperage since Chargepoint took away the option to alter the amperage. On occasionI have removed the EVSE at the moment the battery reaches the target level and computed the amperage for that session, but I wish there was an easier way to determine it as I also have a PHEV that I plug in more often.

The ChargePoint app will tell you the charging rate in kW. Divide that by the voltage (probably 240V), and you'll know the amperage.

By the way, you can still change the amperage on your ChargePoint EVSE. You just need to download the ChargePoint Service Pro app to do it.

Not sure what exactly you’re trying to calculate, kWh/h is just kW. Get the power from the graph. Divide watts by voltage to get amps. 9.5 kW @240V is 40A in my case.

If you want to know the kWh added, that is listed there too.

It doesn't though it reports the cost, time on charger(not time charging) and KWh added. SO to compute amperage(A=(Kwh/hours)/V(240)). Is that not correct?

It doesn't what? Show kW? Just look at the graph. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to figure out.

OK. I didn't see that info on the graph. I still don't understand why it reports time on the charger versus time charging in the reporting section(not the graph).

Because the session doesn't end until the car is unplugged. Even if the car is fully charged, it can start sucking down more power at any time if the car needs to heat or cool the battery.

I'm trying to determine the amperage setting of my ChargePoint EVSE.

I don't see in the Chargepoint app where it tells you your amp setting, but I know I had to select one when I was setting it up. I bet it you remove your EVSE from your account and add it again you'll go through the setup process again and you can select what you want. Mine came with stickers for each amp setting for me to put on my breaker box so I wouldn't forget.

I believe they have removed that capability from the app for regulatory or liability issues(In case someone set the amperage for higher than their wiring would allow). I queried ChargePoint but got no reply.

Okay, so now that you know the graph shows the kW, are you all set?

Correct. You can still see and adjust the amperage, but now they weed out the poeple that don't know what they're doing by making you jump through an extra hoop of downloading an additional app (ChargePoint Service Pro).

Yes Thanks for your responses. Didn't know about the extra app. As I say, I got no response from ChargePoint. I believe the electrician set it for 48 amps at installation (60 amp Breaker with appropriate wiring) but Charge Point changed it to 32 amps.

And probably an odd question but can your PHEV handle 48 amps?

Why would they change it? Did you ask them to?
No. I wanted it at 48amps. It was installed 12/21 before the Mach E was delivered. I downloaded the Service App but it can't find the charger even though bluetooth is on and I was standing right next to the EVSE. Not a big deal I can live with 32 amps, maybe it's better for the battery anyway. I don't put that many miles on in a year and our other car is a Ford Escape PHEV which charges at a lower amperage.
