Do the shutter vents affect charging?

With recent freezing rain, my MME is encased in ice. I went to go plug it in last night, and it kept giving me charge faults (tried with both my Grizzl-E and the mobile charger). I reset the EVSE a few times but no luck.

After several attempts, I heard a crispy/crunch sound, took a look at the front of the car and just caught the end of the shutters opening and closing. There was a bit of ice buildup that was probably preventing the vents from opening.

My question is, if the vents are unable to cycle open and close at the beginning, will this prevent charging? It was also about -10C out if that matters.

The vents traps freeze very easily. I charged several times without them opening. No problem. Except for stressful noise…

I have noticed my vents not opening at all when charging in 50 degrees and colder lately. Normally after plugging in at my home level 2 charger it would cycle open then close. Now I only hear the fan turn on sometimes.

Start the car and turn on the A/C (if temp is above 35°). They should open.
