Good morning, folks,
I am the elated new owner of a Mustang Mach-E First Edition in Grabber Blue!
I have wanted a BEV since I was a kid, and since I'm now retired, that's been a long, long time!
I've been watching the Mustang Mach-E and the Volvo XC40 Recharge for about 2 years. IIRC, they both announced they were coming in early/mid 2019, both to arrive in 2020. Of course, the pandemic hit and destroyed all schedules. Still hopeful, I've been watching and watching, and the Mach-E started to show up in dealers around here in southern NH a couple of weeks ago.
I did my due diligence, looking and looking for the possibility of a test drive, because I really need to have the proper leg support in my car seats. That is an absolute go/no-go for me. Anyway, early last week, out of the blue, I got a chance to drive an Audi E-Tron Sportback. I was pleasantly impressed, but the seats were a complete no-go. I've encountered this before in my automotive life with German cars. Sometimes, their seats just do not match well with me. OK, the price was kind of high, too. But, at least I got a comparison drive out of it.
Over this past weekend, I chased around so many dealerships online that I lost count. Time after time, I found a Mach-E Premium AWD with extended battery, and when I inquired, it was already sold and gone, or already spoken for. It was depressing, to say the least.
Then, it happened. A dealer right close by showed a Mach-E First Edition. And another showed a Premium. I went to the dealer with the Premium, and got a drive. I was very surprised that the Mach-E Premium AWD with extended battery drove so much better than the Audi E-tron Sportback! I could not adjust the seat properly, so we left the dealership and I was so disappointed. Please tell me this wasn't happening!
We stopped in at the Dealership with the First Edition just to take a look at it. Wow. Beautiful. Drooling into my face mask. I told our story to the salesman and he was perplexed about the seat adjustment. But, so be it and we went home. Right after arriving home, I got a text from the salesman - "We cracked the code with the seat, and we think that you may like it!" Of course, we went back. It seems that the driving position I need is all the way down in order to get the front edge of the seat tilted up for the support I need. The dealer folks agreed that it is quite counterintuitive to get to that position - I kept trying to lift the front edge of the seat, and it kept (seemingly) going in the wrong direction. Anyway, enough of that.
I was able to make a deal that I'm comfortable with, and I am now the very proud owner of a Mustang Mach-E First Edition in Grabber Blue!
Thanks very much for your patience with my long-winded introduction post. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all you good folks here!
