A little change from the norm, but checkout the beginning of restoration of this electric Chevy S10 pickup. I didn't even know these were ever made. It's awesome seeing technology such as wireless charging over a decade prior to the EV boom of today, and over two decades before the electric silverado!

most of the chevy s-10 were crushed.... also the ford rangers. Ford had an early electric transit van with drivetrain by azure dynamics that never went anywhere. all these early tests by big5 were hampered by lack of batteries with good BMS, and lack of production volumes of AC motors/inverters/controllers.

With the advent of Lithium-ion, and LiFePO4, batteries lots more innovators were able to put together BEVs with decent power & range.... but low volume made the early production vehicles like the Tesla Roadster out of reach for most people.

I got involved with the DIY crowd in 2008, and went with 'large format' LFP batteries (38x 100ah each in my first car, 48 x 130ah in the eMiata), 9" DC motor, 1000amp Zilla controller.... etc. going with large format batteries, and DC motor/controller kept thing simple and cheap. My first one was about $12k in parts, The eMiata was about $15k in parts... 160kW output, 50 mile range.
