Right, because there is nothing toxic with mining gas, particularly from fracking. The "toxic materials" to make panels that last 20 years happens once, as opposed to the 20 years worth of ongoing pollution to mine that gas you want to turn in tens of thousands of pounds of CO2.

While I absolutely prefer to buy a non MIC item if it's available, I guess you don't buy anything made in china then?

c'mon, man
Yep. I have worked in the oil and gas industry for 26 years. Natural gas is just an harmful as coal. Methane leaks in the process are hard to measure because operating plants won’t let anyone do it. If everyone switched to solar and EV’s I would be out of work. And I am totally ok with that.

I feel like EV adoption might go quicker if it wasn’t seen like some virtue signal. Regardless of how much of an impact you think it has on the environment, EVs are just so much more enjoyable to drive.

I don't feel good around exhaust fumes. Don't seem to have that with my MME.

What makes me shake my head is the people I know, and there are a lot of them here in CA that will vote for any green energy scheme that's placed in front of them- then behave completely different in their "real life."

Example: A very liberal friend I know drives the biggest SUV he can, so he can drive around his wife, kids, and grandkids. That almost never happens, BTW. When his water heater went out, I actually had a brand new one in the box that I was willing to give to him. The problem was it was only sized for 2-3 showers in 1 hour or something like that. Despite it going into his house that only he and his wife live in, again he had to go oversize in case someone was visiting. Finally, it's TOASTY warm in there during the winter and nice and chilly in the summer, thanks for natural gas and the grid.

Me? I am a conservative and much, much greener than he is, and I don't even care. I drive an electric primarily to get into the HOV lane, and secondarily to avoid going to the gas station a couple/few times a week. I also think they're fun to drive, but not nearly as fun as my Shelby or my dad's old cars. Maybe my Mach-E will change my mind.

I charge off solar so easy answer is gas.
Now you're in MY house!

PV to EV is obviously the 'cleanest' way to offset all the fuel-based operating pollution. PV does have some mfg carbon footprint for materials and mfg, but basically offsets itself in the first 18 months of operation.

The gasoline versus electricity evaluation is not as simple as you might think.... and depends on the regional 'mix' of fuels sources used to generate the electricity. Different Utilities have significantly different % of coal, nuclear, natural gas, hydro, wind, solar, geothermal.... which all carry different impact in construction and ongoing operational impact depending on fuel source.
