Two weeks ago, December 11, I woke up to a notification from EVgo letting me know my charging session was over. The actual charging session was the previous night just before midnight. Wait I haven’t used an EVgo EVSE since April. What do I do? Ignored it. I mean it’s a mistake and these things fix themselves, right?

Fast forward to yesterday, I’m walking in to work and I get another notification that my charge at MAXIMUS is complete. Now I’m like 🤬. I go into work check my credit card, nothing! So I’m like or just another mistake it will fix itself like these things always do. I go about my merry oblivious way. Then I thought I migrated the Tesla app to my AMEX. All the others should still be on… oh fliknoid. I check the other card then the EVgo app (you’d a thought I would have checked the app ages ago) sure as flik there are these three unauthorized charges. Some 🤬 was getting free charges at my expense. 🤬 d-bag 🤬. So now CITIBANK and EVgo are investigating.

I’m not saying it’s not fraud, but the other possibility is if you sold an EV with an autocharge set up on it. Cause that’ll do it too.

This should be a heads up for anyone who has that feature active. Luckily, I paid attention and removed my old EV before this ended up being an issue.

I thought of that, however the other EV (23 Premium 4X) did not have autocharge set up at the time. I had it for a very short period time, mere months before I got Le Gobelin Vert.

I am kind of peeved at myself for my nonchalant attitude towards the situation.

This post forced me to look at my EVgo app and on the plus side the app wanted me to know they have lower prices and time of use pricing in Central Florida near me.

I'll be curious to know how you were hacked if you find out - I'm guessing it might be from the EVgo side

I don’t know yet. Their investigation should take 4 to 7 business days they said. Like you I am assuming from EVgo side.

Did you change/update your account password?
No, EVgo has frozen the account during the investigation. I do plan to delete the account afterwards regardless.
