I dont hit any button when I park it in my garage. Maybe you have to do that when you 'lock' it. I just leave the key in it always.

Decided to go down and mess with my car after reading some of the back and forth about faraday cages and people mashing buttons.

So in my faraday cage bag in the usual location I keep it, no action when mashing the button. I took the key out of the bag, put it on the seat, locked the door and mashed the button with no unlock.

In either case the car makes a noise, probably some systems waking up to better "scan" for signal or something, who knows, but regardless no action. mashing the button when the car is fully locked (mirrors retracted) on my 2023 GTPE.

Now on the case of faraday cages, I think a big point I'd contend with is that the purpose for me seeking one out is to *block* signals, not just make them not be acted upon. In that regard I'd say the car is very much not a faraday cage. The car won't start and doesn't see a key when I have it in the bag, so if someone were to get into the car either through mischievous means or maybe I forgot to lock it, they can just walk up and go. An technically motivated thief wouldn't be able to see my key broadcasting by driving by and know that it's just a matter of jimmying the door to steal the car either.

I did get the answer I was looking for and I have ordered a Faraday Bog. I may also look for a small safe as one person suggested!

Thank you!
Ah yes, the Faraday Bog.

That's the quagmire this thread went into about whether cars, or airplanes, are, or are not, Faraday cages.
