I have been having on again off again issues with Apple CarPlay. Everything works fine for 2 weeks and then one day it just connects and disconnects. Then back to being fine again. Today it took it a step further! CarPlay randomly disconnected while driving and PAAK failed also. I did all the things you’d think to do…turn off and on Bluetooth, turn off car, open door restart car, shut phone down and restart, delete Ford app and reinstall. Nothing helped. Finally I had to delete my phone from the car and delete PAAK and reinstall. Seems to be back up and running. Anyone else have similar issues?

Three things:

1. Check the WiFi on your phone to see it if connected to the car. You can sometimes help this by telling the phone to connect to Bluetooth (not CarPlay) and then *after* it has successfully connected to Bluetooth it is usually more reliable about switching to CarPlay. But if that doesn't work ... keep reading.

2. You can reboot Sync: Press-and-hold volume down AND the next-track (right-arrow) buttons on the steering wheel and hold them for about 5 seconds ... until you see the center screen go black (it is rebooting). It will take a minute to reboot, services will restart, and a minute or so later you may be able to connect.

3. Reboot the phone. I used to try "Airplane" mode but that really just "sleeps" the radios on the phone without actually restarting services. Better to reboot.

One (or more) of these things has always worked for getting my phone connected to the car via CarPlay.

It did connect to bluetooth after I rebooted the phone and ended up having to forget the Mach-E and re-pair it but CarPlay still wouldn’t connect and “No key detected” warnings still popped up. The sync started playing music from Apple Music but that is all. No apps, no PAAK. Just weird. Maybe a reboot of sync would have helped? That is one thing I did NOT try
