I tried searching old threads, but didn't see a clear answer. Does FDRS work with the Mongoose+ over bluetooth? I'm debating if spending the extra $140 is worth the benefit of being able to use the laptop without the cable. While the Mongoose+ has a backup USB cable I can use, I'd rather save that $140 if bluetooth won't work.

I wouldn't bother, just install remote desktop software on the laptop then you can run and monitor the FDRS laptop while you're sitting in your comfy living room chair (other than needing to press the power button occasionally). That's a lot more convenient than sitting in the car for the longer updates.

Note also that BT doesn’t have the throughput of the hardwired cable, so updates would perform slower over BT. ??

You know, I use remote control software every day at work. Why did this not occur to me? Sigh. Somedays the most obvious answer is just too damn obvious to notice.

Thanks for the tip.

In the two years I have been doing FDRS updates, only two have taken more than a few minutes.

Most of the time I spend more time setting up and tearing down than I do actually performing updates.

I feel like it's really only the core blue cruise modules that take long enough that it is not easier to just remain in the car. Those don't get released often.

Which is over serial cable really :( Hard to get much slower but the BT 'option' actually is slower!
