Found THIS very interesting. Explains (partially) why software can be such an issue with these cars.

I was pleasantly surprised to see their salaries for software engineers are competitive with the best tech companies. If you include RSUs that doesn’t become true but I hope theyre on their way to acquiring the talent they need to be successful. Also glad they separated Model E into its own division so they can be free to innovate and experiment.

Yeah.
It’s kinda of scary. There are a lot of us that have background with these kinds of things that knew this a long time ago. It was obvious.
I find it funny that Jimbo said that car companies have never written this kind of software.
Ummm. I can think of one. It starts with a “T”.
I am NOT a Tesla guy. Renter a Model Y over the summer and was impressed by the UI/UX, but the quality of the car was crap. BUT, Tesla brought this stuff in house a long time ago. Soooo, a car company HAS written this kind of software.
This just shows that legacy car companies are still stuck in the “learn the hard way” mode. I’m glad they’ve learned something, but they need to get these “lifers” out of Model E, COMPLETELY.
