So I decided to let it expire and see if there's anything I miss. Only if I miss something would I then consider subscribing.
I just took a decently long trip (Austin to South Padre and back) since my Ford nav expired using Google Maps via Android Auto and have only one annoyance.

I was using Tesla Superchargers the whole trip since I bought a 1 month subscription. The car kept complaining that I was about to be too far to reach any charger when in reality I was simply going to a Tesla Supercharger that the Ford nav didn't know about.

I wish the Ford nav would at least get charger updates without a subscription. That seems like a fundamental need in an EV.

Actually, did the Ford nav ever get Tesla Superchargers? I know it didn't at least for many months after gaining access to Tesla Superchargers.

Been experimenting with this and the main benefits I see are..
  • Map instantly available vs occasional delay in connecting to the phone for CarPlay or Android Auto
  • CarPlay burns through the phone battery when running navigation and the wireless charger is useless during this time. Charges just fine when running the OEM nav
Charge through USB.

Wait, so even though you were using Google Maps to navigate, Ford Nav was warning you that you would be unable to reach your destination????

Yes, it was a Sync popup, not an Android/Google Maps popup.

Edit: To be clear, it didn't say anything about my destination. The popup said I was about to be too far away to reach any chargers with my remaining charge. I think the warning is appropriate but would be more useful if it knew about all the chargers.
