Ford Pass Authorization Fee - WTF??

I just added my new credit card to Ford Pass and immediately was charged a $1.10 "Ford Pass Authorization Fee". OK its only $1.10 but who does that??

Maybe it’s just a hold to confirm the validity of the card?
You were correct. It was just strange that the charge took a while to go away. Whenever this has happened in the past the charge is usually removed right after its processed but that took a while this time. Calling it a fee also threw me I guess. They should call it a test charge or something similar

That actually isn’t a charge, it’s an authorization. And yes, it’s to prove that the card is active. It will age off in a few days. How long depends on the bank that issued the card.

(I spent my career in payments, so I can speak to this with knowledge.)

$1.10 is a weird Auth amount though…

In the old days of manual bank loan approvals the bank my wife worked for would write “110” on loan apps which were not approved.

If you drew a diagonal line downward from the top of first 1 to the second it spelled “NO” :)
