FordPass and Android 16 = Black Screen

I have a Pixel 8 and my FordPass went black the other day. All 3 vehicles were gone. I read somewhere that I needed to update to Android 16, so I upgraded, but no change.

When I pull down, I get updating but it stays like that.

I've uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled a few times now. I haven't cleared cache because I don't want to have to set this up again.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Go ahead and clear the app's cache. If that doesn't help, uninstall and reinstall FordPass. You shouldn't need to set it up again, but you will need to sign in (email, password).
Just tried that again and nothing.

The only thing I haven't tried is clearing storage. Will I lose everything if I do that?

I think when you uninstalled the app, that automatically cleared its storage, but I could be wrong.

You should be fine to clear storage. That should force you to sign back in to your Ford account.

You should be fine to clear storage. That should force you to sign back in to your Ford account.
Done. I cleared cache, storage, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted phone. Nothing.

Very strange.

Dang. That's frustrating. It could be a waste of effort, but I think your next step is to call Ford.

I had a problem in my app several years ago and they had me sign out and back in and somehow it fixed my issue. (I can't remember what it was, but at the time I felt their suggestion was super unlikely to work.) I was surprised that my PaaK was restored when I signed back in.

Yep, I guess I need to call. Funny enough, I also have a Lincoln and the Lincoln version of Ford pass works fine. I even matched the permission from Lincoln to Ford and it still doesn't work.

I can log in to ford.com and view the vehicle dashboard with no issues.

I didn't read that you tried deleting the phone from the car, then reconnecting it. If that's true, I'd give it a shot because that's what Ford will probably tell you to try anyway. Do all of the steps, (again :(): 1. Clear Ford Pass cache and data; 2. uninstall the app from the phone; 3. remove the phone from the car; 4. connect it to the car as a *new* phone and let the car connect as PAAK when it asks. If that fails, then reach out to Ford. I don't think you'll need to though ?

As a data point, on a pixel 9, i upgraded to a16 a while ago (a day after the images went live, before ota) and ford pass was not effected. I would even say PaaK is a little more reliable, for me. So not a general a16 issue (although since i flashed, i did do a factory reset)

I upgraded to Android 16 on my Pixel 9 Pro and haven't had any issues with Ford Pass. I don't think your issue is part of a larger problem but is likely specific to your use case. I wish I had anything helpful to contribute but it seems you've already done everything we all know to try.

Called Ford and they were very helpful.

Apparently non-modem vehicles (I have a 2013) and Android with 5.21.0 don't play well together.

They gave me a temporary solution of going to the Ford website and removing the 2013. As soon as I did, my FordPass app started to work.

They said a fix will be in the next update.
