I wanted to try car camping in the Mach-E, and the advice I had read was to buy inflatable cushions to fill the space behind the front seats. I tried that first, but the ones I got were the wrong size and the whole setup was kind of unstable, so I returned them. Fast forward to camping season, and I had the idea to fill the space with something more useful. With a storage container, you can pack it full of your stuff, and then keep it in the trunk on the way to the campsite. Then, when you get there, you move the seats forward, and relocate the storage containers behind the seats so that you can sleep where they previously were. You can still access them if you lift up your camp mattress.
After measuring the space and looking around a bit, I found a clear plastic storage container from IKEA that fits the Mach-E perfectly! It's the 17 gallon SAMLA box and it's only $15 with lid:

I tried it out on a camping trip last weekend and it worked great. There's not a lot of headroom to sit up in the Mach-E, and I wouldn't try sleeping in the back if you're over 6 feet tall, but for me it worked fine. Being able to keep climate control on overnight was wonderful. I've attached some pictures showing how it fits in the back of the car. The seat looks a little higher, but once you lay down the seat back lowers a bit due to your weight and it's pretty level. Hope this helps!
