With all the messages on the Frunk button, I sort of hate to add to all the messages. But have a question and really couldn't find a specific answer in the older threads

Does "all" models of the MME have the ability for a Frunk soft button? I have a 2021 Job 1, built October 2020. Why I ask, is I took my MME to the dealer, asking for them to update the software for the soft Frunk button, pointing to the icon on the center display (next to the trunk button), to justify the need. And the Dealer said I didn't have the hardware necessary for a soft trunk button. The icon I was pointing to was a soft button for the "charging door".

Does anyone know, is there additional hardware required for the soft Frunk button? Can I add hardware ? How would I double check if the hardware is really missing?

We would get much more use from the Frunk, if we had a button. Lots of times we cant open the Trunk, because trunk door is too close to the garage door.

On a side note, why would anyone want soft button for the charging door? It doesn't lock. In either case, I could not get the soft button for the charging door to work either.

You need someone with access to FDRS to update two modules: The BCM and the GFM. After that, they need to run the routine that puts the button on your center screen. Then you wait until Ford’s servers put the button into your FordPass app. If you go to a dealer, you pay for the updates unless the dealer is being generous. If you find an enthusiast who has FDRS, you might be able to bribe them with doughnuts (that’s how I bribed them). 😊🐩

The button you are referring to is used to stop/unlock the CCS connector when DC charging.
