I ordered the iPhone 16 pro max to replace my 14 pro max. I was wondering if there are any tips/tricks for removing the old phone and connecting the new one for PAAK. Thanks for any suggestions!

It should be as easy as deleting your current paak and then setting up a new one with the new phone. I think the car will ask for a new start password as well with your new paak.

Here is what I am going to do:

Restore new iPhone 16 Pro from encrypted backup and sign into the FordPass app (then reset old iPhone and remove from Find My)

PaaK reset in car

Install new PaaK

Connect CarPlay

Can’t think of much else, but that should cover it. ?‍♂?

Ok, thanks. I've had the same phone for the two years I've had my Mach-E and I have vague memories of it being a huge PITA when I first set up PAAK.

I got rid on my iPhone X shortly after getting PaaK to work on the car. I have had my XIII Pro for a couple of years and don’t remember PaaK being as borked to connect. It was fairly simple in comparison to when Ford’s validation servers refused to recognize my email address. ?‍♂?

Is that even needed? I would think everything would transfer.

Passwords and network identities transfer. The PaaK handshake does not. It has to be reestablished. ?‍♂?

It took me several attempts over a few days to get my new phone to connect PAAK. Kept getting failures.

Yep, that's what I'm hoping to avoid. I was hoping there was an official "PAAK user's guide to getting a new phone" type thing but I guess I'm overthinking it.

Issues creating a new PaaK are largely either connectivity or server issues. You have control over one, but not the other. ??

Do what I did and get away from Apple. 14 pro NEVER would work right. Pixel has been great. IDK if it was my bad luck or what but Apple play always drop out, PAAK failed a few times and had to be "reinstalled"......I was very disappointed in the Apple to Mach-E experience

If you are driving to pick up your new phone DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE YOUR KEY FOB WITH YOU. Last year I didn't and couldn't use PAAK. I had to use key pad and password. Not a big deal but it would have been if either keypad or passcode were not working.

Got the new phone set up with PAAK and there was only one "gotcha" from my experience. After you set it up for PAAK, it asks you to set up your start password. I wanted to use the same password as before but it won't let you because it is being used with a different phone. So I tried to delete the password but you can't unless you have the phone it is associated with it. Anywho, I just ended up making a new password and all is well.
