Ugh, I've had my 2022 Mach-E for about a year and a half and unfortunately the big Midwest storm from a couple days ago may have been the end of it. I got caught on the drive home with quarter sized hail, I'm lucky none of the glass broke, but every single panel is saturated with dimples.

So now I'm driving a golf ball around. Due to all the damage in the area it's a couple weeks until the body shop can get me in for an estimate. I'm partially hoping for it to be totalled, so I can upgrade to a GT, but we will see.

Anyone else gone through this on one of their vehicles? It's a first for me.

We had another car damaged by hail a few years ago. A shop here in TX was able to fix many of them without painting the car - paintless dent repair. There were some on the hood that couldn't be fixed due to inner support rib structures, so insurance replaced the hood and only that needed paint. I was amazed at the results - would never know the car had hail damage.

A lot depends on where the dimples are and if they can get access to the backside of the panels to massage them out. Insurance might total the car if the A pillars and area's like that are damaged.

Good luck!

Insurance/resale value wise, there could be a standard insurance payout system for reduced value. Sell the car to someone who doesn't mind a golf ball. The purchaser also could get cheaper insurance the doesn't cover mere cosmetic damage in the future.

PDR.... Physicians Drug Reference?

To ensure they‘re not overdoing the benzos as they cope with the loss. Always check the pharmacodynamics.

When I first read the PDR post I pictured a car dimpled with the density of a golf ball and the tech walking up to the car with their tools, taking one good look, and walking away saying nope not gonna happen ?

3mpg improvement. But over how long a distance? I didn’t get that line.

edit…oh, never mind. Not enough caffeine yet. But I wonder how much better it would be without the weight of clay and have it dimpled still.

Alright! I'm using the insurance payout to go snag a 2023 Space White GT. Time for a big upgrade from the select! :)
