Hi there,

I went to Halfords and bought a Nextbase Dash Cam Hardwire Kit (https://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cam-accessories/nextbase-dash-cam-hardwire-kit-159302.html).

I was following the guide here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...hardwiring-a-dashcam-and-radar-detector.5542/

Which said I can tap into the switched fuses: 15/16 however the taps that came with my kit only has 2 pongs where the one I pulled out has 3 pongs?

I want to tap into switched fuse so when the car is off, the camera turns off. Now, I have a Nextbase 322GW Dash Cam (https://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cams/nextbase-322gw-dash-cam-158990.html)

Which I will be using the parking mode so I am not sure if tapping into the constant is better? I don't want to drain the battery though hence the need for switched fuse.

So my question is: With my current taps I got with the outlined kit, what fuse can I use for switched fuse?
Do you recommend using a constant power fuse? Not sure if my camera will auto power off then ??

Thanks.

The taps that came with the Nextbase hardwire kit wouldn't fit for me, so I brought some more off Amazon at a reasonable price. I have used them on a constant power and have left the car unused for almost 5 days and have had no issues regarding the battery.

My camera has been on and recording continuously for 6 months now. The high voltage battery keeps the 12V battery from getting too low.

Do not use 15/16. Instead use an unused spot.

If anyone wants to tap into an always on use the unused fuses in spots: 5, 6, 13, 24
If anyone wants to tap into a switched on fuse use the unused fuse in spot: 1-2

All of the micro 2 spots are always on and all of the micro 3 spots are switched.

A micro 2 can be used on one side of a micro 3 if you can't find a micro 3. Only micro fuses can be used.

Personally, I would recommend that you use a power cut off like vicovation vico power plus if you intend on using an always on fuse. While the car will maintain the LVB it can cut off the camera in the case of HVBJB failure etc which could lead to a dead LVB.
