I found that by setting the window in my EVSE, it does indeed prevent the car from charging, or preconditioning. That's great, because it makes me make a conscious decision to override the EVSE (takes about 5 seconds) if I choose to pull power during my peak rate period. That's a very rare occasion, but even a remote start will pull power if plugged in. I don't want to use peak hours without having to jump through that 2nd hoop.I've avoided setting a time window in my EVSE because I found that if I set a departure time in the car, the EVSE refused to provide power if that departure was outside the scheduled active window. Because of that I only set charge times in the car and allow my EVSE to power at any time the car asks.
