Incorrect driving mode

Most of the time I drive Whisper 1PD.

Yesterday decided to have some fun, switched to Unbridled 2PD. This morning, still driving in Unbridled 2PD, switched back to Whisper 1PD mid-drive. All good so far.

Made a grocery stop, started driving again and felt that the car is back in Unbridled mode. The IC showed the orange markings, but the main console showed Whisper.

Switched to Engage and back to Whisper, the markings were gone and the car started driving normally. What gives?

Haven't gotten any updates lately. 6.13.0 is the latest.

Sep 22 Prem EX AWD, never had issues.

Many of us have experienced "drive mode unavailable " which usually kicks us OUT of Unbridled. This could be a version of that . Sorry I couldn't be more helpful . Didn't want to leave you hanging .
Test it some more and get back to us .Hopefully it was like the 24 hour flu and yer car will be "healthy" tomorrow .

The issue you described happened to me a few times between updates. Never experienced it again.
What I had yesterday was a bit different. I will keep an eye.

Today while I was driving, I experienced the drive mode unavailable so I ran a scan with Car Scanner while I was driving and this was a code I’ve never seen before so I stopped turn the car off put it back in accessory mode cleared the codes. No codes came back, the interesting thing was once I plugged the scanner in and started the scan It kicked into engage, no more error! See below an explanation of what this error code says.


“Severity in this case is never severe, as this is a customer convenience device, and there is always a manual workaround in the event of a complete electric failure. Vehicle operation is in no way affected by the lack of operation of the APIM. Symptoms of a U0253 code may include:
Steering wheel controls inoperative Cell phone won't sync with vehicle Unable to use Navigation System”

This is one of the symptoms of the powertrain software upgrade set that has the HVBJB recall on hold. There is reportedly new powertrain software that hit this weekend for the FDRS update people. I am currently holding off on updating these modules via FDRS until I hear that nothing else seems to be broken. ??
