Used-purchase Job 1 owner here, receiving OTAs without issue, including BlueCruise.

BlueCruise never worked, though it's there and showing an expiration date of 10-15-2022.

Adaptive cruise control works like a champ, so all the pieces and parts are there - but BlueCruise never functioned, nor does it appear as one of my connected services in my account, so I do not even have the option to pay for it.

I took it to the dealer for the half-posts issue, they allegedly performed all 22S41 non-OTA updates [50/50 that it happened] and asked them to look at BlueCruise and I got a ?‍♂, so was not confident they looked at it at all.

So far, SNAFU for dealer updates, but the interesting part comes next. I had a lot of time on the interstate yesterday, so decided to call Ford Customer service and had an excellent experience (not the interesting part, but wanted to share.)

The interesting part is that on their end, they could not see *any* services linked to my account - no Navigation, no Alexa, etc., but I see them on my end. They tried to re-link my account on their end and it failed. The situation is being escalated to engineering, so we'll see what comes of it. The fact that there's a disconnect on what they see versus what I see tells me that there are some fundamental bugs around account services, which may explain some of the other oddities people experience.

Ford is definitely trying to learn how to become a software development and IT company - and it does appear they're trying. I've been in IT for a long time, and it's evident they're experiencing some growing and learning pains - it just makes it harder for the consumer when the product is something you're relying on to get you from point A to point B.

We're driving a computer that happens to have a battery and wheels, and I'm rooting for the Ford team, because we win when they do.

Just wanted to share the account linking issue as I've not seen it discussed.

I wonder if it has to do with the services in your car being linked to the original owner at one time? It shouldn’t matter, but the bug could relate to that area.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too.

One of my suspicions as well, though the app acknowledges me as the owner as it gives me the option to "transfer owner" in the 'Service History' section of the application. It also does not explain why I can see some services and they cannot see any - unless that particular data entry in their database has the old owner's info attached to the VIN.

?‍♂ and we'll see what comes of it. I'll update the thread once I have info in case anyone else experiences it.

Update - it's fixed. Turned out the OTA BC update did not quite work 100% and it did not disable lane centering or enable hands-free. Through some magic, the dealer (and I suspect Ford Engineering) got it fixed.

Just another humbling reminder that this is new to everyone, and bugs happen. I've managed hundreds of thousands of devices in one of my IT roles, and there were always some random set of 2% - 5% of what we were updating that just did odd things, despite everything supposedly being identical. It took a monumental amount of work to continually reduce error rates, and there were always some that were just troublesome (phase of the moon, black cats, Mercury in retrograde ?.)

The more data and experience Ford (and others) get, the better it will become.
