Used-purchase Job 1 owner here, receiving OTAs without issue, including BlueCruise.
BlueCruise never worked, though it's there and showing an expiration date of 10-15-2022.
Adaptive cruise control works like a champ, so all the pieces and parts are there - but BlueCruise never functioned, nor does it appear as one of my connected services in my account, so I do not even have the option to pay for it.
I took it to the dealer for the half-posts issue, they allegedly performed all 22S41 non-OTA updates [50/50 that it happened] and asked them to look at BlueCruise and I got a ?‍
, so was not confident they looked at it at all.
So far, SNAFU for dealer updates, but the interesting part comes next. I had a lot of time on the interstate yesterday, so decided to call Ford Customer service and had an excellent experience (not the interesting part, but wanted to share.)
The interesting part is that on their end, they could not see *any* services linked to my account - no Navigation, no Alexa, etc., but I see them on my end. They tried to re-link my account on their end and it failed. The situation is being escalated to engineering, so we'll see what comes of it. The fact that there's a disconnect on what they see versus what I see tells me that there are some fundamental bugs around account services, which may explain some of the other oddities people experience.
Ford is definitely trying to learn how to become a software development and IT company - and it does appear they're trying. I've been in IT for a long time, and it's evident they're experiencing some growing and learning pains - it just makes it harder for the consumer when the product is something you're relying on to get you from point A to point B.
We're driving a computer that happens to have a battery and wheels, and I'm rooting for the Ford team, because we win when they do.
Just wanted to share the account linking issue as I've not seen it discussed.
