I noticed in the order guide that "Front Trunk" was changed to "Frunk".

This is not a new term. Personally, the word sounds a little wrong, but that seems to be sticking.

My question: Is "Frunk" a North American term? What is it called in other areas? (Does the UK call it the F-Boot?)

I think the term became popular with Tesla, that's why it's sticking now.

This officially changed with the announcement of 2022 models. I agree with other sentiments that they are just jumping on the Tesla-popular bandwagon. Also second nature to me now to call it a frunk.
