Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this issue. I tried searching the posts first and didn’t find anything.

Today when i was backing out of my garage I heard a somewhat loud knock/squeal while reversing that went away after i first started moving backwards . Then as i drove forward I hard a tapping noise that got faster as I drove but went away after a minute or so of driving. I looked the car over and didn’t see anything. I plan to take it to the dealer to look at it as its soon to be out of warranty, but wanted to see if the group had any insights before I talk to them.

Thanks for any information!

Sounds like your brake pad was stuck to the rotor. Then the rotor cleaned itself off.

It happens, especially if you put the car away wet without drying off the rotors (drive about 25 mph, switch to Neutral and use the brakes to slow).

I second @hybrid2bev 's diagnosis. This happened to us a few times when we had to leave the car outside in PNW winter rain...on a slight hill. It's alarming, but not sure what can be done about it. Try the dealer, but our dealer couldn't replicate it, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Thanks. This makes sense as it was raining a couple if days ago and I didn’t driver yesterday. Honestly I was more concerned about the tapping noise right after but maybe that was the pads loosening from the rotors completely.
