Maybe you’re head is still stuck on the factory USB-C outlet. I’m referring to a 12V adapter. It will slowly charge a MacBook Pro when the computer is turned off.
60W USB-C PD adapter is enough to charge my 13” and 14” MacBook Pro while in use. I’ve done it many times before. It may struggle to charge the 16” models but that’s an assumption, not fact.
It can also charge my wife’s Dell 7400 2-in-1 work PC that is powered by USB-C.
